1. Hello There, I have a problem with my 15″ intel based macbook pro, which i recently installed snow leopard on. When starting up, i get a white screen with a folder with a question mark on it. I understand this suggests a hard drive issue. I have tried booting up from the osx boot disk and running disk utility to repair it, but it does not recognise that a hard drive is installed on the system. Also, when i start it in firewire target mode, other macs do not recognise it. Can you please advise if you can help – if not fix it, then with data recovery?

2. I have a macbook g4 , i was intending to buy a new battery and charger when i noticed the pin on the ac adaptor has snapped in the machine causing my battery to discharge in under an hour and its very hit and miss if it charges at all. Can this be repaired and if so how much ? if it is not too expensive it would be great to replace the CD drive with a DVD superdrive.
Can you give me a price for both? Can you repair scratches to the outer shell?

3. I have a white macbook which has been running slow so I installed the latest OS X firmware update realeased a few days ago and now my Mac wont boot up. I get the usual loading screen with the apple logo and also get the bong sound but then the computer restarts.

4. I keep having a problem with my CD drive. I have replaced it once already (myself) with a brand new drive but after a few weeks it stops working. It does not read or eject CD’s. I also have a problem with the keyboard (back light) This does not work. I have had a look myself and cannot figure it out. It may well be conflicting software perhaps??? The mac is refurbished. I bought it with no HD, OS, etc!!! after a water spill on 2008. It works fine other than the CD drive.

5. My display has developed a band of horizontal, flashing green lines in the left centre portion of the screen. I have not dropped or caused any other damage to the computer, it appeared some time ago, then dissapeared, but is very much back now! The problem is not repeated when I connect an external display or when taking screen grabs. Have you encountered this problem before? If so could you fix it and how much would it cost for an appointment?

I have a late 2007 MBP 15″. The main display now refuses to display anything. The LCD still has power as it flickers when attaching an external screen. The external screen works fine. Also the backlight is also OK as the brightness controls still work. When screen sharing (VNC) to the machine it still ‘thinks’ its displaying on the LCD. This looks a little like the known GPU issue with some of these machines (8600M GT chip) but I have had this checked at the Apple Store in the bull ring and it passes those tests (damn!)I have had the keyboard and screen off the machine and there is no visible damage to any of the cables or connectors to the screen. This leads me to think there is either an issue with the LCD or logic that drives it, or the GPU – which means the main logic board. Unfortunately I don’t have a spare screen or logic board lying around to figure out where the issue is. Do you have the ability to diagnose where the problem is and supply parts as needed?
